Stainless steel pipe is better softer or harder?
There are two main factors that affect the hardness of stainless steel pipes: annealing treatment & carbon content.
1. The quality of the annealing treatment of the steel strip and the tube itself is directly related to the hardness of the stainless steel tube. Whether it is 304 stainless steel pipe or tp316l, 201 and other, international standards have corresponding regulations for their hardness.
2. The main function of carbon in ss pipe is to improve the hardness of the pipe, but carbon is also an impurity in stainless steel, the higher the content, the harder it is, and the greater the chance of the pipe rusting.
3. In addition, there is another reason for the 201 stainless steel welded pipe, that is the copper content. Astm a554 201 stainless pipe will be added with copper, its function not only improves the brightness of the pipe, but also increases the toughness of the ss steel pipe, so that the ss tube is softer, which is convenient for processing or bending.
Therefore, it does not mean that the harder the stainless tube, the better. If it is too hard, it is not conducive to the bending of the stainless steel pipe.
